Easy to follow gluten-free meal ideas

Feb 22, 2021Vanessa Stoicov

There are a plethora of reasons many Australians have opted for a gluten-free diet. For those diagnosed with coeliac disease, it’s a must, but for others, they choose to embrace this way of eating because they enjoy the health benefits.

Regardless of which route you’ve taken to get here, eating gluten-free doesn’t have to be a headache – in fact, there is an abundance of options when it comes time to meal plan. So to give you a boost of culinary inspiration, here are some great gluten-free recipe ideas you can try at home.

Easy gluten-free breakfast options

Start your day right with a delicious and nutritious breakfast. It’s one of the most important meals of the day and can set you up for success and productivity if you do it right!

Gluten-free toast with peanut butter or eggs

Get your protein and fibre hit early with these easy to whip up breaky snacks. We recommend a few slices of Well & Good gluten-free seeded loaf, topped with Ceres Organics smooth or crunchy peanut butter. But if you prefer savoury first thing in the morning, grab a carton of free range eggs and cook them your way.

If both of those options feel a little too heavy, you might enjoy a slice or two of our vegan (and GF) fruit, nut & seed cake instead.

Fruit salad and gluten-free yoghurt

Craving something sweet and fresh to kickstart your day? A nourishing bowl of fruit salad smothered in Chris’ Greek style natural yoghurt might do the trick. At iPantry, we’ve got a wide range of fruits to choose from, including apricots, blueberries and our favourite, pears. Customise your fruit salad by adding other toppings, like a handful of pepitas.

Quick gluten-free lunch recipes

When it’s time to break for lunch (especially on a workday) you might not have the time to spend labouring away in the kitchen cooking up a storm. Keep it simple. Having a gluten-free egg salad sandwich on seeded bread, some Well & Good cheesy mac or Mediterranean quiche on hand are all great options if you’re hungry and pressed for time.

Gluten-free burgers

But if you do have a little extra time up your sleeve, treat yourself to a burger! For meat-lovers, we’ve got Flinders + Co. signature beer burger patties, or if you’re a vegetarian or vegan, check out the Quorn hot and spicy burgers (they go great with a generous splash of mayo).

Add your pattie, choice of salad ingredients and sauces to a Well & Good GF hamburger bun and you’ll be all set.

No fuss gluten-free dinner ideas

After a long day, wouldn’t it be lovely to come home to a cooked dinner, ready to go? While we can’t be your at-home chef, we’ve got the next best thing with our gluten-free ready-made meals.

Gluten-free pizza

We’ve partnered with A25 to bring you a wide variety of gluten-free pizzas and lasagne that are tasty and easy to prepare for dinner. Pizza is one of those crowd-pleasing gluten-free meals for kids too, and we’ve got options for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans, as well as a few surprising flavour combos.

Gluten-free Italian classics

Who doesn’t love carbs?! Just because you’re eating gluten-free, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on your favourite pasta dishes. Next time you whip up a batch of grandma’s bolognese sauce, serve it up with Ceres Organics quinoa rice spaghetti or penne, or try San Remo’s penne pasta instead.

Looking for an appetiser? Why not make your very own delicious loaf of garlic bread using this Well & Good gluten-free crusty bread mix. Simply crush some fresh garlic and add it to some melted butter of your choosing, brush it on the bread and chuck it under the grill for a few minutes. Voila – dinner is served!

Other gluten-free ready-made meal ideas

You can find more ready-made meal options from Fig, including the popular Moroccan chicken & turmeric rice salad. We’re also big fans of the quinoa, chicken and cranberry salad which is perfect for those warm and balmy Melbourne summer evenings.

Alternatively, do you like tacos? We do – check out this amazing taco 6 pack from our friends at Vamos. It’s also available as a 12 pack and with meat or vegetarian ingredients, so it’s great for feeding a big tribe (or lasting a few meals if you’re flying solo).

Gluten-free snacks

We can’t talk about gluten-free meal ideas without mentioning snacks. If you’re planning on dishing up some tacos, the totopos and salsa from Vamos is a must-have. You might like to also add a side of their famous guacamole, too.

For your desk drawer snack stash, we’re big fans of the Ceres Organics brown rice crackers (they come in other flavours too), Italian rosemary and sea salt crackers from LOKA (great with dips) and Proper Crisps chips. For something a little sweeter, check out the Crackle Corn range.
